Magic the gathering is a popular card games that was invented in 1993 by a professor named Richard Garfield in Mathematics. The game can be started whenever there are two players around. Usually the players also known as the planewalker have seven cards on their hands with 20 lifepoints in total. To win the game, the players are required to kill or damage other players creatures. The idea is whoever has a lifepoint equals to zero or less, lose the game.

In "Magic the Gathering" or also known as "the Magic", there are two types of cards: "Spells" and "Lands". Lands are like spells casting ability fuels. It allows the players to refuel its spell casting ability. In some tournaments, the decks must contain at least sixty or more, and every player has seven pieces of cards on their hands. Every card serves a special purpose during play. But as a general rule, players may use no more than four copies of any named card, with the exception of "land".

The players can cast five colored types of spells in the Magic game and they are: white, black, red, blue and green. Each colored card has a different purpose during game play. For example, a white colored card usually means healing, order, equality, righteousness, law, community, peace, absolutism/totalitarianism, and light. You may say it can power up the creatures defense level during games. On the other hand, black means power, ambition, greed, death, corruption, selfishness, and amorality. It will do more damage to your opponents by killing their creatures on hand or simply make them to "lose" their cards.

Each color has it own weakness or strength, so make sure you read the description on how it can be used to overall benefit to your game plays.

Magic the gathering have been around for about twenty years now and recently they partnered with "Sony" to launch a 3D turn-based strategy game. It is actually a quite a good idea where you can sit around in front of a monitor and play against various players around the globe.

The electronic version is different to the card game. You can actually control a 3D character and have an in built point system, so you don't have to use a pen or pencil to jot down every points or manas that you or your opponents have made like in the tradtional card games. Moreover, the creator of the electronic game version has made a story line which makes it unique to play with.
